about us

Woodland walk

welcome to Handmade in Blighty

We are husband and wife team, Greg and Jessica who started Handmade in Blighty, with a kernel of an idea to share our passion for our arts, crafts and our skills with others who would enjoy them too.  We live in the beautiful countryside of Somerset in England.  We are extremely lucky to have wonderful woodland walks on our doorstep and often spend quality time outside being inspired by the nature around us.

what we do

We design beautifully crafted items, all handmade in the UK.  Our attention to detail is paramount in every item we make.  We offer a range of woodenware using locally sourced British hard woods.  Greg has a passion for wood-turning and turns stunning wooden bowls and platters using his lathe.  He also makes handmade chopping boards, serving boards, cheese boards, wedding cake stands and our popular salad hands.  Greg has been carving spoons, ladles and kitchen utensils for years and shares his passion with others on our spoon carving courses which make a great gift day out.  We also design and make coasters, pot stands, place mats and lovely additions for the home. Every piece we make is handmade and therefore unique, adding to the character of the item.

personal touch

Most of our items can be personalised to your requirements such as bride and groom names and wedding date on the base of a fruit bowl or special anniversary, christening, birthday or retirement details. We undertake special commissions where meaningful logos or captions are inscribed on the base of a bowl. These make for unique, thoughtful hand crafted gifts that with care will last a lifetime.  If you would like to send your gift direct to your loved ones with a personal message, we are happy to do so for you.  Please see our product range for further details.

courses, events and workshops

We also teach our skills to others.  We run a range of courses and workshops including spoon carving, foraging, fire-lighting and bushcraft.  We tend to use woodland in Somerset, however we are happy to travel within mainland U.K to run courses and events for you.  Please contact us if you have something in mind.  We are a standard fixture at the National Trust running monthly workshops along with the ever popular 'Forest Fridays' at Stourhead in Wiltshire in the school holidays.  We have a range of options available from corporate team building to bushcraft birthday parties so please see our course page for further details.

we are proud to be british

We love what we do and where we are in the world.  All of our products are handmade in Britain (Dear Old Blighty).  Our courses, events and workshops are full of interesting subject information as well as folklore, local history and medicinal uses for plants on our foraging courses.  Greg has a natural ability to inspire and lead our guests through a wonderful and memorable experience that gets people coming back for more.

If you would like us to make something specific to meet your requirements or you would like further information on our courses, workshops and events please email us at info@handmadeinblighty.com
